Look in a New Direction to Discover New Potential | Video

Our potential has nothing to do with our past.

A number of years ago, I had the realization that I was looking to my past to determine what was possible for me. I would look to my past behaviors and results and think, “I can't do it” or “I'm not good at this” or “I have an issue with (fill in the blank)…discipline, follow-through, self doubt, etc”. I was declaring things about myself, my strengths, my weaknesses and then trying to navigate my life and work in the maze of it all.

I was looking to my past to define my future. I was looking at memory, drawing conclusions about myself and then trying to navigate the present from there. No wonder it looked hard. No wonder I felt limited. I WAS limiting my view of myself. And in the midst of it all often felt like I wasn't living up to my potential.

I started to see that in the moments when I was looking to my past to determine what was possible for me, I was bringing memory to life.

I was living in memory versus seeing with fresh eyes and a fresh perspective.

Looking to the past to determine our potential is creating a sequel not a new movie or a fresh start.

When we LOOK and SEE that we are experiencing thought, through memory or drawing conclusions about ourselves, not an actual TRUTH of who we are and our potential, a NEW space opens up inside of us. From that space, we have a new understanding of our potential.

NEW POTENTIAL, FRESH POSSIBILITIES RESIDE IN THE MOMENT – THE NOW. We cannot access them via memory or looking to the past.

Another way to say it is that beyond our current thoughts resides a deeper truth or knowing. And in that space lives new capabilities, new thought, new understanding, new experiences.

This is also important to know…SEEING this requires an experiential knowing, not an intellectual one. TRUE FEEDOM and accessing NEW POTENTIAL within ourselves is the journey of curiosity, openness, and orienting ourselves towards what we don't know about ourselves versus what we think we do.

POTENTIAL IS IN THE UNKNOWN NOT THE KNOWN

This is where wisdom resides; where we find our way and discover new perspective – new terrain.

Beyond our thinking, beyond our moment-to moment experience resides a deeper nature; an incredibly powerful potential of our minds.

Our minds are designed to give us new thought, new ideas. When we orient ourselves in what we don't know we will naturally fall into more depth and understanding.

SEEING this, having our own personal KNOWING of this has direct implications for our work and lives.

When we move through life with more freedom of mind, and a our own knowing of the deeper nature to life, we naturally tap into new potential.

We naturally experience FRESH INSIGHTS, FRESH PERSPECTIVE and see NEW CAPABILITIES emerge.

When we are at home, connected to our TRUE NATURE, we are tapped into an energy force that has UNLIMITED POTENTIAL. We are our best selves.

In this short video I share some some personal examples and client stories that illustrate to how when we explore this for ourselves, we tap into new levels of performance, capabilities and connection.

Our potential is always greater than the problem at hand. Tapping into the deeper truth of who we are and our innate potential changes everything and gives us new hope.

“Tapping into the deeper truth of who we are and our innate potential changes everything and gives us new hope.”

When we are at home, connected to our TRUE NATURE, we are tapped into an energy force that has UNLIMITED POTENTIAL. We are our best selves.
