Why Grinding is Actually Bad for Business | Video

The most significant unrecognized influence on people in business is the quality of their minds; their state-of-minds.

We are good at spotting problems and identifying issues, we just aren’t always great at fixing them. I’ve seen businesses and business owners spend millions of dollars fixing processes, systems, tools hoping that it will change things. That it will improve performance.

In these cases, they’re often pulling the wrong lever. They are forgetting the most influential factor in their business and that’s the human factor.

Clarity of mind, the quality our minds in any given moment is a huge factor in thriving and doing well and a huge factor when it’s not going well.

When this gets visible it raises the bar for everyone.

Humans have a tremendous potential of mind.

And people’s understanding and ability to use the raw potential of their mind determines their effectiveness in life and business.

Our use of our minds is determining our moment-to-moment experience.

When we get bogged down, weighed down, pressured it’s an indicator that we are limiting the potential of our minds. We misunderstand and think it’s a necessary ingredient for problem-solving or success, but when we look at it objectively it’s easy to see that a bogged down mind is an unproductive mind.

This state, this feeling, stands between you and the potential of your mind. But here’s the good news – only in that moment.

The mind is fluid. New thought, great ideas and shifts in understanding happen naturally. They do not require our intervention.

Understanding the roles our minds play in reducing OR increasing our energy, engagement, resourcefulness and creativity allows us to tap into this formless potential and see impact in our work and lives.

In this week’s video I share a story about an inventor who was suffering diminishing returns on his ideas. Once he realized, for himself, where potential actually comes from, he was able to turn it all around.

“The most significant unrecognized influence on people in business is the quality of their minds”

The underlying potential of our minds does not change. We experience more or less clarity of mind moment-to-moment, but the raw potential does not change.
