Your Transformation is Already in the Design | Blog

Do you ever get discouraged by your own progress? Does it look like nothing is happening or it’s not happening fast enough?

We all face times when it looks like things are not changing. Times in our career or in our businesses or in our lives when it seems like we’ve reached our limits. We have bigger hopes and dreams but after many attempts we begin to wonder if it’s just not in the cards. Or we decide we may not have what it takes.

When we look at circumstances in our lives, it can look like things will never change. We feel stuck.

This is where assessing and drawing conclusions about ourselves and progress can get tricky. When we go with what we currently see on the outside, we appear limited. It’s a snapshot in time. It’s being shaped by thought in the moment.

But when we go beyond our current view, our current thinking there is a deeper intelligence. A deeper knowing. When we listen or look here, we see so much more.

There is a famous quote by Heraclitus – “The only constant in life is change”.

Change is a given. Change is happening all the time. This is true for life, for our circumstances and for our experience. What we see, how we feel about it, the conclusions we draw are also subject to change.

Since what we see is shaped by thought in the moment and thought is fluid, it serves us to remember that our view of the situation and circumstance is also subject to change.

What it looks like on the outside is being shaped by what our minds are doing. Where you are is not permanent. The way it looks now is going to change.

Recently, I had a podcast on while I was doing some work around the house. The speaker was talking about butterflies and transformation. As I was listening, I started to see a deeper truth for myself.

If a caterpillar looks only at what it sees, it would assume it’s a worm. Looks like a worm, acts like a worm. However, its wings are already programmed in the design. The DNA for wings is already in the caterpillar.

We can all relate to looking at our life, a situation, or our progress and feeling discouraged. We feel off-course and sometimes even hopeless. When we look at our career, the growth of our business, our health or our relationship status we can get frustrated. Our assessments, our thoughts, tell us things will never change or this is as good as it gets.

But just like the caterpillar, we are programmed for wings. We are designed to shift, evolve and transform. There is so much more to who we are what is possible for us.

If a caterpillar looks at its circumstances, its crawling on the ground. There is nothing about his current form or situation that says he will ever be a butterfly. That he will ever fly. But you and I both know, even though it seems crazy and totally impossible, that caterpillar will one day fly. It’s in the design.

Like the caterpillar, we are designed to transform. When we go beyond what we currently see, beyond circumstances and current thinking, to what we know about ourselves, to our deeper truth, we remember that we too are designed to fly.

Change and transformation are a given. When we let go of limited thinking and get less attached to what we see, we naturally slip into the power and potential of our innate nature.

We begin to live our lives more powerfully connected to the truth of who we are versus the limitations of circumstances. We tap into new capabilities and new potential. Fresh thinking that leads us to new experiences, new inspiration and new heights.

If you knew wings were on their way, how would that inform your choices and your life?

“Like the caterpillar, we are programmed for wings. We are designed to shift, evolve and transform.”

What we see is limited. What we know is infinite.
