I have the pleasure of working with many people that are interested in sharing their gifts, talents, ideas, insights & creativity with others. I am often in conversations where they express a desire to grow, expand and step into new expressions of their work or their service to others. Initially all they know is that they feel a yearning or a calling from within. 

I'm not referring to those times in our lives when it looks like the grass is greener or when we look to change circumstances because we're looking for something better. I'm talking about those times when we seem called to express ourselves, to shift, to explore, to make room for something new. Those times when we feel the pull of something deeper telling us to pay attention.

The pull of something deeper is an invitation or what I often refer to as a nudge. Allowing ourselves to follow the nudge, to let those nudges lead the way, has the potential to show us a whole new world. 

The nudge is an invitation to listen. To bring forth what is within. To give it room to be seen and ultimately expressed. When we engage with what wants to be expressed, we come alive. 

How do we know what wants to come forth?

We listen. We engage. We experiment. We get comfortable in the unknown. We learn to listen to our deeper nature versus looking for validation outside. We follow our inner-knowing versus our worries, our old standards or other people's expectations.

We make space for that still quiet voice or the hopeful expanded awakening that wants to bloom. 

We are often inspired to create and share. Why or what, varies for all of us, but the desire to express, to give voice to “our way”, our own expression or service compels us. We yearn to feel the freedom but often stop ourselves. 

We stop ourselves with all sorts of thinking like, “No one will want it.”; “Who do I think I am?”; “I don't have the time or resources to do it.”; “It's a fantasy and won't pay the bills.” etc.

Yet, no matter how much we try to talk ourselves out of it, or how much we hesitate, we keep feeling the pull. We are drawn to move, to write, to leap, to listen. When we let where we are drawn take the lead over our habitual thinking, we discover new territories within.

In the act of expressing, sharing what is present, we come alive. We wake up. We access new depths of connection, creativity and inspiration.

These acts of listening deeply and expressing, change us. They leave an imprint. We see more of our true nature.

From this space it is easy to see the point was never the destination or the form, the output or the final product. The point is immersing ourselves in whatever is coming forward & holding nothing back.  The gift lies in the simple & profound act of authentically expressing what is within you. 

When we listen to what is alive within us and engage with no other purpose than to see what it has to show us, we are transformed.
