The Power of Intuition in Our Work & Lives

Your Intuition Is Knocking – Can You Hear It?

Are you attending to what's going on outside of you or what's going on inside of you?

If we are always attending to or tuning in to what is going on outside of ourselves or the information coming in, we potentially cut ourselves off from what wants to come through, from the deeper, more wholistic truth within.

We drown out the inner knowing or insights by taking in too much information or considering only what is happening outside of ourselves.

We assess and draw conclusions all day long. Our minds are scanning the territory, gathering information, and moving forward from there. Where we look and what we listen to, what we take in and factor in shapes how we respond to and navigate our work and lives.

We can meet life's challenges and our hopes and dreams with a limited version of what's possible, or we can awaken to something more significant – to a potential and resourcefulness that is full of new possibilities, creativity, and expansive alternatives.

We can make use of a purely rational and logical mind or a mind that is connected to a powerful deeper intelligence.

When I thought the best course for the big and important decisions was to “figure it out,” I leaned heavily on my thinking mind. I would ruminate, analyze, think and then think some more. When I thought my intellect was the source of insight and transformation, I did my best to think things through. I leaned heavily on what my thinking was telling me.

I was factoring in my thoughts and the ideas of others or what had been proven to work before. Said another way, I was attending to my thoughts. I didn't realize that new ideas, fresh perspectives, and transformation did not come from all my thinking.
Insights, shifts of understanding, flashes of brilliance, and moments of clarity come from a more expansive, freer, and open mind.

In her book, The Awakened Brain, Dr. Lisa Miller shares current research that proves the human brain is wired for awareness, for awakening. When cultivated, our minds can access more awakened awareness, “We make use of different parts of our brain, and we literally see more integrating information from multiple sources of perception.”

We literally have more options available to us when we factor in and listen to the deeper intelligence within – when we listen beyond our thinking. When we allow the grip of our thoughts to lesson and our minds to relax, we are more open to creative leaps in our work.

Creative leaps, innovation, and fresh insight come from a more awake and aware mind. When we allow knowing to emerge, we are able to respond to our problems, our goals, and our hopes and dreams with more wisdom.

How do we cultivate our awakened mind and become more of a whole-brain person? How do we access our intellect, the logical side of our brain, while not losing sight of our intuitive mind's wisdom?

We stop attending to all the outside stimuli, stop consuming more information, and instead give room and space for more expansion. We lay down the problem and our ruminating to the best of our ability and let the deeper wisdom unfold and reveal itself.

When we surrender the tight grip we have on our thinking, problems, or goals and tune into the deeper nature of life; we wake up to new awarenesses. We are tuning in to the space within.

Our alignment and relationship to this space within informs our paths and our best way forward, allowing us to move through our work and lives connected to ourselves and to something greater.

When we allow the grip of our thoughts to lesson and our minds to relax, we are more open to creative leaps in our work.”

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.” – Albert Einstein
