Good news, bad news, there is no formula. There is no one way to create, no one way to succeed, grow, or learn. If you‘re like me, that was bad news because I just wanted to know how. Especially in those areas where I wanted to see change. I wanted a guaranteed way of getting what I wanted, and I wanted it to work all the time. I must admit, it was frustrating at times to discover that life, success, and relationships don‘t work that way.
The good news, we are naturally agile and creative, and wisdom is in-the-moment responsive. Wisdom shows up as we move through our lives in real-time and gives us what we need to create, problem-solve, and respond to whatever is in front of us. We can count on it.
When working with entrepreneurs and leaders, it’s common to hear them perplexed or frustrated when what worked in the past isn’t working now. The solution, insight, or behaviors that were incredibly helpful before aren’t working for the current situation, and when that happens, it can look like we are the problem. We question ourselves and often assume we just need to try harder.
A client and I were discussing her business model. A few years ago, she found a structure that allowed her to grow, and her income took a huge leap. Lately, she has had some new ideas that would change her current way of doing things. She wants to express herself in new ways and try new ideas, but she’s been afraid to change it. She’s been worried that she shouldn’t mess with success.
When we explored this, she realized she had made her business structure into a formula for success. She started to believe the structure had magic in it versus remembering that the creative insight and wisdom at a moment in time was the ultimate source of new growth and momentum.
The magic came from the creative potential in the moment; it served up what was needed then; today, wisdom was nudging her in a new direction.
The question was, could she follow the creative nudges and impulses within her? Could she listen to the wisdom in this moment and trust that it would lead her to new levels of success, or should she hold on to the formula?
Can we put our trust in the creative and natural intelligence within her?
There is a natural creative intelligence within all of us. That power is already there; it’s innate. We don‘t manufacture it. We experience it moment-to-moment based on the quality of our mind at that moment.
When we get attached to finding the right way or a particular formula, our minds are more limited. When we stay open, in a freer mind, and listen for wisdom in the moment, we have access to new possibilities.
When we understand the true source of potential and trust our innate capacities to learn, grow, rise to the occasion and find the wisdom needed, we move through life with more confidence in certainty.
Not that we have finally found the right formula, but because we know where to look.
Connecting to that deeper knowing and intelligence allows us to create from a fresh perspective.
It doesn’t mean that we don‘t ever follow what worked in the past; it means that we stay open to evolving and allowing a new experience of what‘s possible.
