From Insecurity to Security in Business & Life

Interview with Lane Zarate

Lane Zarate is the Senior Capital Projects Officer in the Transportation and Public Works Department for the City of Fort Worth. She is responsible for managing two teams that deliver capital street reconstruction projects and plan the City’s pavement management programs. She is also responsible for the development of best practices for engineering design and construction on both capital and maintenance projects. Lane has over 14 years of civil engineering experience including roadway design, project management and construction management in both the public and private sectors. She has her Professional Engineering (P.E.) license, is a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) and is a Certified Envision Sustainability Professional. Lane first learned of the principles behind state of mind in 2016 through her husband, Rick Zarate, and has since brought State of Mind training to individuals in her organization and seen remarkable changes.

In today’s conversation, you get to hear from Lane Zarate. In Lane’s line of work, dealing with conflict resolution and problem-solving is a big part of her day to day. She used to experience pressure and anxiety in her job, believing it was all on her to have the answers. These feelings began to shift when she heard something simple yet profound: “We all naturally have mental health, but for our thinking.” She realized the worry she felt was a result of insecure thinking, an insight that provided considerable comfort and relief. Lane shares how this understanding allowed her to approach her role in business with more ease, confidence and enjoyment.
